All material not copyright by other entities is copyright ©2000-2007 Matthew McLauchlin - in particular, all text and photographs of the metro, unless otherwise specified. If you would like to reuse photos from this site for non-commercial purposes, just send me an email and I'll respond with permission.

The most important work I used while preparing this website was: Montréal en métro: guide de voyage Ulysse. Montreal: Éditions Ulysse, 1992. A gorgeous new edition has just been released by Ulysse in 2007, completely revamped and including the Laval stations. Highly recommended - go get it!

I'd also like to recommend a truly beautiful guidebook to the Montreal metro, probably the best book available on our system. It appeared at the same time as this website, and is by my friend Benoît Clairoux: Le métro de Montréal: 35 ans déjà. Montreal: Hurtubise HMH, 2001. Website for the book (in French.)

Another invaluable resource was the collection of metro station architectural plans, available at the Bibliothèque d'aménagement of the University of Montreal.

Note also that I used the websites listed in the Links section extensively as references, especially the STM website.

THANKS

I would like to thank the STM, obviously, for their kind indulgence in helping me with this site; for their support in giving me first permission to photograph, then a job; and of course for running such a splendid metro system. In particular I would like to thank Serge Savard and Odile Paradis in public relations; René Lambert and Marcel Grégoire at the Centre de contrôle; André Vigneau in the archives; all of my colleagues at Service à la clientèle-Communications; and the nice lady at Monk metro who was thrilled to hear I was doing a project on the place she works.

Special thanks go to fellow metrophiles Benoît Clairoux, Francis Cavanagh, and Peter Nicoll for their information and encouragement; to the many people who helped to proofread my odious French, in particular Christiane Rochon and Gilles Vézina, as well as to all of the readers who've sent in corrections.

This site would not have existed without Gilles Roger, who hosted this page and created the forums in the beginning; Ian Goldberg, who amazingly, generously, wonderfully provided free hosting when the site had nowhere to go; and my late father, David McLauchlin, who let me use his digital cameras.

Finally, thanks to my friends at the Straight Dope Message Board, and to my roommate and best friend Hamish Copley for putting up with this whole thing.
