ORIGIN OF THE NAME
Rue Jean-Talon. After a ten-year military career, Jean Talon (1626-1694) was intendant of New France 1665-1668 and 1670-1672. He took several measures to improve communications, reorganize the justice system, and increase population density. He undertook many measures to diversify the economy, and succeeded in settling 2000 immigrants in his territory. Unfortunately, many of his reforms did not survive him.
