The central volume, built cut-and-cover, is one unified space including the escalators between the mezzanine and the bridge. The lighting, hidden in the concrete, casts shadows onto the high ceilings, adding to the effect. The space looks down onto the platforms from the bridge and the escalators; the rounded shapes of the barrier and ceiling join to create a rounded window onto the platforms. The corridors to the entrances are built along similar lines. | |||||||||||||
![]() The eastern end of the platform (that is, at the head of Honoré-Beaugrand trains) is particularly beautiful. Whereas the western end is mined, the eastern end is contained within the volume built in trench. This allowed it to be built with a striking rounded shape, tapering towards the end of the platform. This end of the platform is also directly under the unsupported escalators, which soar up above to the ticket hall level. The effect of these architectural forms is nothing short of stunning.
The entrance pavilions are also striking structures, with glass curtain walls hung from concrete roofs supported on angled, outboard columns. The entrance that serves as a bus terminus has been enlarged by the addition of an elliptical enclosure expanding from underneath the columns.
