ORIGIN OF THE NAME
Barthélemy Joliette, by Vital Desrochers Rue Joliette. Barthélemy Joliette (1789-1850), a notary from L'Assomption, was a representative in the House of Assembly and later of the Legislative Council. In the mid-1820s he founded the village of L'Industrie, now called Joliette.
