ORIGIN OF THE NAME
Bust of Mgr. Fabre, in the Quebec Museum of Civilization Rue Fabre. Monsignor Édouard-Charles Fabre (1827-1896) was the third bishop (1876) and first archbishop (1886) of the Catholic diocese of Montreal. He was also the son of Édouard-Raymond Fabre, mayor of Montreal 1849-1851; the brother of Sir Hector Fabre, lawyer and journalist; and brother-in-law of Sir George-Étienne Cartier, one of the Fathers of Confederation.
