The Russian-French artist Nicolas Sollogoub came to Quebec in the 1950s. In 1964 he went to work at CBC as a set decorator, where he was a colleague of Frédéric Back. After working with Back on a stained-glass window for the Holiday Inn in Sainte-Foy, he was approached to work on the metro. In addition to his artwork in McGill station, he also participated in the creation of groundbreaking animated advertisements in the metro tunnels in 1968. Since then, he has executed several stained-glass windows in France relating to the colonization of Canada.
