.98, 2007 Light sculpture
Two parts, each height 1,86 m × width 3,74 m
Location: Henri-Bourassa metro station, corridor to Lajeunesse ticket hall and corridor between terminus and Montmorency platforms
Lower section
This work is composed of two sections at the top and bottom of a staircase, each containing 98 LED fixtures. These lamps produce abstract, constantly shifting patterns of coloured light, based on highly processed images of nature displayed as though on a "monitor" of 98 pixels. The basic idea can be grasped in seconds, but the work is capable of drawing passersby's attention even after repeated viewings.
The work was purchased through the Quebec governmetn's 1% program as part of the construction of the third platform to serve the Laval metro extension.
