Benches, 1986 Granite and steel Length 4,72 m × height 0,45 m × depth 0,5 m (except one of length 2,74 m) Location: Acadie metro station, platforms and east kiosk
These benches of black granite and bright red steel fit precisely with the theme of avant-garde design and vibrant forms and colours that governs the rest of the station. Their forms, for example the metal racks on either side of the seat, are inspired by the design of old tramways.
"The benches at Acadie station are important to me because they're still 'alive.' ...They're still used each day and are an integral part of our image of the metro and the surrounding city. More and more, Montreal is recognized for the quality of its design, and I'm happy to have produced this small part of it."— Michel Morelli (Info STM, Les artistes du métro de Montréal - Michel Morelli, Métro, 22 January 2007)
