Guy Montpetit

Painter and muralist Guy Montpetit obtained an art degree from the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal in 1961 and studied for two years at Atelier 17 in Paris. He was later involved in the ill-fated Corridart exhibition in Montreal. His works have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Canada and the US since 1967.

He has mainly focused on murals and the integration of art and architecture, and on social involvement such as developing an art teaching method for hearing-impaired children.

He has lived and worked in Val-David in the Laurentians since 1973. He is the brother of artist Roland Montpetit and uncle of artist Richard Montpetit.
