This work was a gift of the government of Quebec on the occasion of the inauguration of ICAO's headquarters at 1000, rue Sherbrooke Ouest in 1975; when ICAO moved to their present location, the sculpture was moved as well.

"Miroir aux alouettes" figuratively means a lure or snare.
