The Metropolitano de Lisboa (metro system of Lisbon, Portugal) gave this work to the STCUM as part of their cultural exchange program, to celebrate the Montreal metro's 30th anniversary. Since the work was too large to be placed in a metro station, the STCUM gave it to the City of Montreal, which installed it in the Parc des Îles (now Parc Jean-Drapeau) not far from Jean-Drapeau metro station.
